This is a very important topic because most times, people tell me they have passion for this business but the major problem is how to finance it because common knowledge and the word out there is that organic skincare business is very expensive to start and maintain
while the above is true, I usually advice my protegees and anyone I am privileged to talk to that they should start small and grow with the business so that when they get up there, they would have gathered enough experience to stay up as well
and this brings us to the things we can set up and put in place and call a business without spending more than 2,000 Nigerian Naira
DRIED HERBS:
there are so many people out there who do not have the patience to dry their herbs yet they need it for their skin. herbs like neem, carrots, turmeric etc. you can buy, grate, air dry and grind to powder and then begin to sell. you can even make your own customized mix, say neem powder, lemon peel powder, camwood powder, oat meal powder and sell it as a face pack
when you get word out there, people may be skeptical at first but they will warm up to you when you refuse to give up and constantly show them that your products are of good quality
you can start with carrot worth 500 naira, turmeric roots worth 500 naira, small 80 naira oat sachet (two packs), harvest neem leaves from the tree. dry and grind them for about 300 naira. buy one pack of transparent nylon to pack them for a start and you still have change to buy small data and make noise about your herbs on social media
INFUSED OILS:
I just love talking about infused oils because they are winners everyday. For our budget, I would go for neem and olive oil. two bottles of goya at 450 naira each and dried neem leaves that you harvested yourself. infuse for 6 weeks and begin to market. you can infuse carrots as well and or turmeric
BLACK SOAP:
This never disappoints because people are always looking for the next best soap for their skin and when you know the right things to add, you can have a basic great soap for less than 2,000 naira.
a typical recipe will have
black soap, 600 naira,
carrot powder 1 tablespoon (100 naira),
camwood powder 1 tablespoon ( 100 naira),
neem powder 1 tablespoon (100 naira),
turmeric powder 1 tabblespoon (100 naira),
1 medium lemon and 1 medium lime (100 naira)
honey 200 naira,
carrot infused coconut oil 3 tablespoons (about 100 naira as well)
half a dozen plastic containers (small size) -300
and that is it
three different ways to start an organic skincare business with 2,000 naira
in my own case, I started the business with zero capital and began making profit immediately, I would show you how I did that in another post
